May Long Weekend at Panorama Mountain

April 23, 20261 min read

The May Long Weekend (Victoria Day weekend) is the unofficial kickoff to summer in the Columbia Valley! While the ski runs have closed for the season, the mountain is buzzing with energy as the golf greens wake up and the lower trails begin to dry out for hikers and bikers.

Whether you're visiting for the fresh mountain air or the early-season sunshine, there is plenty to do during the long weekend:

Mountain Activities

  • Golfing: Both Greywolf and the valley courses like Copper Point are in full swing by late May. It’s the perfect time to get your first rounds of the year in while the peaks are still capped with snow.

  • Hiking & Biking: Lower-elevation trails like the Valley Trail are perfect for a family stroll or a cruise on the bikes.

  • Panorama Springs Pools: The hot pools are open and provide the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.

Family Fun: Fire Department Open House

A long-standing village tradition! Head over to the Panorama Fire Department on Saturday, May 16, 2026, typically between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

  • The local firefighters open their doors for a fun, free community event.

  • Kids can get an up-close look at the fire trucks, learn how the hoses work, and pick up some great fire safety tips.

  • There is usually a community BBQ, making it a great spot to grab lunch and meet other families in the village.

2026 Summer Planning

If you’re visiting for the long weekend, it’s a great time to scope out your summer adventures. The Mile 1 Express and the Wilder Rider Mountain Coaster are prepping for their full summer season, and our summer early booking offers are often still available through mid-May!
