Hidden Ski Runs at Panorama Mountain Resort

Hidden Ski Runs at Panorama Mountain Resort

April 23, 20262 min read

While the main cruisers at Panorama are world-class, the mountain's true character is hidden in its secret glades and off-the-beaten-path gems. If you are looking to escape the crowds or find that untouched pocket of powder, here are the local favorites to add to your 2026 hit list.

Skiing & Snowboarding | Panorama Mountain Resort | Panorama Mountain Resort

Eagle Glide & New Timer

  • Rating: Green / Blue

  • The Vibe: These runs are short, mellow, and consistently groomed to perfection. Because they are tucked away, they remain quiet even on busy holiday weekends.

  • How to get there: Take the Toby Chair (the classic 2-person lift) and exit right. These are the first runs you’ll encounter on your right. It’s like stepping back into a quieter era of skiing.

Alive Glades to Sunna

  • Rating: Blue to Black

  • The Vibe: Named after the film Alive (which was partially filmed right here), these glades were thinned in a unique "diamond" pattern. You’ll weave between islands of trees on a mellow pitch that is absolute magic on a powder day.

  • How to get there: Take the Summit Quad and head toward the Sun Bowl Trail. The Alive Glades branch off to the right. Follow the trail until it reconnects with Sun Bowl, then look for Sunna branching off to the right to finish the lap.

Sunbird Lift Line

  • Rating: Black Diamond

  • The Vibe: This is the ultimate "show-off" run. It’s steep and loaded with natural features to pop off, but be warned: you are skiing directly under the Sunbird Chair, so you’ll have a captive audience for your best turns (or your most epic bails).

  • How to get there: Take the Sunbird Chair up and drop in directly underneath the lift line.

Gunbarrel

  • Rating: Double Black Diamond

  • The Vibe: Many people avoid Gunbarrel because the map makes it look like it ends in a cliff band—it doesn’t! It is a steep, challenging, and often shaded run that holds great snow long after other areas have been tracked out. It's a true "local's only" secret.

  • How to get there: Head to the very top of the mountain. After exiting the Summit Quad, follow the signs to the left.

  • Pro Tip: Always check with a Ski Patroller at the summit for current conditions if there hasn't been fresh snow recently.

Sidewinder Glades

  • Rating: Double Black Diamond

  • The Vibe: If you want steep pitches and perfectly spaced trees without seeing another soul, this is your run. It’s a hidden gem that offers a high-octane technical challenge.

  • How to get there: From the summit, take View of 1000 Peaks. Once you pass Stumbock’s, keep a sharp eye on your right—Sidewinder appears shortly after.
